Handprint Hi-5 Con-GRAD-ulations Card

I thought it would be cute for Little Sister to help make a card to congratulate her big brother on graduating from preschool. Using red ink in a bottle, I painted her hand and made a handprint on a folded sheet of cardstock. After it dried, I wrote Hi-5 on the palm. I wrote "Con-GRAD-ulations Big Brother!" across the top and "You Did It!" on the inside. The front is also decorated with little yellow stars that I just colored in. Of course Little Sister had to sing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" ..... he, he.

I love the way it turned out!

Graduation Poem with Handprints Keepsake

On the last day of  preschool, my son made a darling Graduation Keepsake that I absolutely adore! He cut a little cap and gown from blue construction paper, which happened to be the same color he wore for his big day and glued it above the printed poem. Of course, handprints are the perfect way to mark how little they were on their preschool graduation day. His teacher said that the kids begged if she could please paint their hands one last time - so sweet! I love the precious poem and it also makes me a little sad that my baby boy is growing so fast. I will truly cherish this little handprint keepsake!

Graduation Poem with Handprints Keepsake

The Poem:
Sticky fingers and big wet kisses
Dirty toes and stars with wishes
Splashing through puddles and hugs too tight
Afternoon naps and sleepless nights
I'm growing so fast, I'll soon be grown
So I've made you this handprint for your very own
So tuck it away and keep it, please
So years from now I can see
How much I changed as time went by
And you can always remember my
Sticky fingers and big wet kisses
Dirty toes and stars with wishes

*** Note to his teacher Mrs. S ***
Thank you so much again for not minding if I shared your adorable crafts on our blogs! The world is a better place with teachers as kind & caring as you and who make learning so easy & fun. - Amanda -

Handprint Notebook Teacher Gift with Cute Saying

Handprint Notebook Teacher Gift with Cute Saying

This Handprint Notebook was part of the Teacher Appreciation/End of the School Year Gift that I put together for my son to give his preschool teacher. The notebook is from the dollar store. I found an adorable teacher saying that you can print for free over at Balancing Home. My printer was acting goofy; it would normally print a solid black without the lines in it. Using Mod Podge, I glued it to the front cover with another coat on top to seal it. The writing is actually supposed to be white. I should have waited for the glue on the backside to dry before painting the top coat. The saying reads:

A teacher takes a hand,
Opens a mind, &
Touches a heart.

Of course that meant we had to do a handprint on the back cover! Since the cover was glossy, I choose to use Enamel Paints to make my son's handprint. Regular acrylic paint would easily scratch. You can find this type of paint in the acrylic paint aisle. We also stuck a foam heart sticker in the center of the print to represent how a teacher touches a heart.

Be sure to check out the entire teacher gift and the fingerprint plate thank you keepsake we also made! My son also drew her an adorable Teacher Day flower picture.
